Father's Day ideas

Just say no to neckties!

I'm all about handmade gifts from the kids handmade cards, pictures, projects and crafts. Mine will probably make something (with lots of stickers, no doubt they love stickers) and maybe we'll treat Pappa to lunch or dinner somewhere.

Here are some other ideas.

Dad gets in free on Father's Day at The Florida Aquarium and all weekend at Lowry Park Zoo. Send Dad to the aquarium on Saturday night for the SudsFest 2008 for beer and food.

Is he a sports fan? How about some Buccaneers gear. Better yet, take him to the 2008 Fan Fest. It goes from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Raymond James Stadium.

Has he always wanted to learn to golf? How about lessons?

Do you live on a lake or have one nearby? How about a canoe?

Maybe he wants to see a rocket launch. The South Florida Museum is holding a rocket-building contest and launch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The contest is for children 10 and older, but everyone is welcome to come and watch.

How about going all out and taking him on a two-hour yacht cruise in the Bay on Sunday? The brunch cruise boards at 10 a.m., and the lunch cruise boards at 1 p.m. at the StarShip Dock in Tampa. Cost is $49.95 for adults and $38.95 for children. Book tickets here. FYI: Get 2-for-1 pricing for Florida residents when you book online, use source code FDT.

Whatever you decide to do, have a lovely Father's Day!

I found dollar wood frames at Michael's - I am going to let them have at it with some paint, markers and stickers, throw a picture in there and its done! What great ideas for places to go - I didn't know Dads got in free at all of those places!

These are great ideas! Thanks. I"m a huge slacker.

Because a Great Book Helps Explain a Tough Subject

Oh, the tough stuff. Life with preschoolers means wading right into the hard stuff, sometimes on a daily basis. And what's perhaps most striking of all is just how much tough stuff there is!
