This Weekend's Fourth of July Family Activities in Tampa Bay

July 02, 2009

Happy Fourth of July Weekend! Many of us are looking forward to a few days filled with family, friends, fireworks and food. Come check out what’s happening in the Tampa Bay area this holiday weekend.

First thing on many of our minds is where we can find local fireworks celebrations and parades. Metromix did a fabulous job listing both for us here:

Also, parents might want to celebrate with their children by making crafts, following fun recipes, playing games or printing out some coloring pages. It’s a great way to educate them about this very important holiday too. Here are some great websites.

Fireworks Alternative: If your children are too nervous to watch fireworks live (or too young to stay up for the fun), consider recording one of the Fourth of July specials on the major television networks. We used to do this with my son and he loved watching the displays on TV at a reasonable volume the next day.

Finally, here are two other exciting activities you might consider checking out with your family.

  • Miniature train rides: The Largo Central railroad will be offering free miniature train rides all day on July 5th between 10am and 4pm.
